Throughout August, enjoy free activities for the whole family. From watching modernised Punch and Judy shows to attending the the world’s smallest picture house, there’s plenty to keep boredom at bay this summer.

Beach huts

Located in Mermaid Courtyard, enjoy some friendly competition with a collection of games in our beach hunts available throughout August. Free to use for visitors, choose from giant versions of Snakes and Ladders, Jenga and Hopscotch to see who will be crowned the winner.

Punch and Judy

Inspired by pantomime, watch modernised Punch and Judy shows suited to the whole family. With showtimes at 11:45am, 1pm, 2:15pm and 3:30pm on Tuesday 2nd, Tuesday 9th, Friday 19th and Friday 26th, the free puppet performances take place in Mermaid Courtyard with outdoor seating available.

Caricatures

There’s no better seaside souvenir than a portrait drawn by our talented caricature artist. Taking mere minutes to expertly capture the day’s fun, head to Mermaid Courtyard every Wednesday between 11am-2pm for these free mementos to remember your day spent on Liverpool’s wonderful waterfront.

Face Painting

Receive a makeover every Thursday between 11am-2pm in Mermaid Courtyard with free face painting. Whether you want your face transforming or an embellishment to your hands, choose from glitter, air brush designs and traditional paints.

Sol Cinema

The world’s smallest picture house is arriving at the dock for August bank holiday weekend. Attend a free screening in the vintage-style cinema between 11am-3pm, complete with usherette service while munching on a serving of delicious popcorn.

Detector Dog Demonstrations

Watch free demonstrations form Boarder Force and their detector dogs every Thursday throughout August. Taking place three times per day at 12pm, 1pm and 2pm, visit Maritime Museum for the unique chance to see these highly-skilled dogs in action as part of their SIEZED! The Border & Customs Uncovered Gallery exhibition.

Makers Market

Returning to the dock on the first Sunday of every month, The Makers Market brings together some of the finest local independent makers, bakers and creators. On Sunday 7th August, walk along Hartley Quay to find a huge selection of stalls offering the best seasonal produce, beautiful homeware and design products, vintage clothes, delicate jewellery and much more.
