Love at the Dock for Liverpool couple

Marriage proposal projected across the Dock for Valentine’s surprise

A Liverpool couple got engaged at the Dock during our Love Letters projection on the wall of the Merseyside Maritime Museum on Valentine’s Day. Alex Cain, from Walton, got down on one knee to ask his girlfriend of 16 years, Michelle Davies, to marry him, as his message – Michelle, you complete me, marry me?” was projected across the Dock.

Alex and Michelle were heading for a drink at Smuggler’s Cove when Alex popped the question. He’d planned the proposal with the Dock’s on-site team, and the couple were gifted a complementary meal at Maray to celebrate,

Our Say it with Love event saw projections beamed onto the wall of the Maritime Museum, with a donation given to charity for each one, while the Dock was festooned with hearts for the weekend. Alex’s proposal was captured by the Echo – he told a reporter: “She makes me who I am and my life would have been very different if Michelle wasn’t around. We’ve been together for 16 years and we kept putting this off but now we’ve been tied into it and there is no way out. I almost had a little cry there.”

Childhood sweetheart Michelle, meanwhile, was none the wiser. “It was lovely,” she said. “I’m just in shock.” The couple met at school as 13 year-olds, and have been together since they were both 15.

Everyone at the Dock wishes them the very best for their future together.
