Tate
Liverpool is the home of the National Collection of Modern Art
in the North of England, and the most visited gallery of modern and
contemporary art outside London. Tate Liverpool is housed in a
beautiful converted warehouse that is part of the historic Albert
Dock, on Liverpool's World Heritage waterfront.
The Tate's art is by twentieth century artists, including art
from the Tate collection and specially curated shows combining
modern and contemporary art. The special exhibitions, housed on the
gallery's fourth floor, bring together works from national and
international collections, public and private, making a unique
contribution to the north of England's artistic vitality, and
complementing Merseyside's celebrated historic collections.
At Tate Liverpool you can re-visit a favourite modern classic, and
discover something new in contemporary art.
Tate Liverpool has seen its visitor numbers explode over the past
few years, earning rave reviews most recently for its Turner Prize
collection and Klimt and Picasso retrospectives.
