Be transported to an exciting and atmospheric journey into the life, times, culture and music of the Beatles.
Liverpool has changed almost immeasurably over the last years,
particularly in the run-up to the city's year as European
Capital of Culture in 2008. The redevelopment of the city centre
around the Liverpool One area, rejuvenation of Chavasse Park on the
Strand and emergence of the award-winning Arena and Convention
Centre Liverpool at the Kings Waterfront - plus the Leeds-Liverpool
canal extension and new Museum of Liverpool at the Pier Head -have
positioned the Albert Dock firmly at the heart of the city and its
cultural collection.
The Albert Dock Company works with our neighbours and partners to
promote leisure and tourism in the city and wider region through
our events and attractions.
The Arena and Convention Centre Liverpool is one of the dock's newest neighbours and the only venue of its kind in the Nnorthwest. The state-of-the-art 10,600 seater Echo Arena Liverpool is the perfect venue for music, comedy, family entertainment and sport, and the BT Convention Centre is host to a great variety of exciting exhibitions, conferences and events. In just its third year of business, it has already turned Liverpool into a major conference venue, winning a host of accolades for its green credentials, the quality of its facilities and excellent service.
Another close neighbour is Liverpool One – one of Europe’'s biggest and most imaginative retail developments. It is Europe’s largest retail-led regeneration scheme, and is a testament to the commitment of developer Grosvenor to the city. Liverpool One contains more than 160 famous high street stores, ultra-hip fashion brands and individual boutiques, as well as numerous cafés and restaurants that perfectly compliment those on offer at the dock.
The dock also rubs shoulders with the new £16 million Cruise Liner Terminal at the Pier Head, which draws thousands of new visitors to the city’s waterfront every year.
Due to open in 2011, the landmark Museum of Liverpool will be based on the Mann Island site at the Pier Head.
For more information about Liverpool, Merseyside and the wider Northwest region, we also partner our local tourism agencies. You can find out more information about what's on across the region at England's Northwest, from a full listing of attractions, activities and events.
The Albert Dock is only a short distance from the Leeds/Liverpool Canal Link, which continues the path of existing canal traffic alongside the magnificent Three Graces and into the southern docks system.
