Pirates Ahoy for Albert Dock's Pirate Weekend

Colin Bordley

30th July 2011 - 23:15

It's been a busy week for the Dock.  Hard on the heels of Reflections on the Waterfront on the Pier Head and the opening of the new Museum of Liverpool next door, it's now Albert Dock's turn to take a weekend in the limelight as it plays host to pirate hoards. So the Dock venues have been hard at work, decorating themselves and their staff to welcome some of history's most fearsome maritime villains and privateers, from Blackbeard to Anne Bonny and Calico Jack Rackham to Frenchy Hawkins.  At the end of day one, we've had Steve Coleman from Radio Merseysi...

  Summer at the Dock

Colin Bordley

11th July 2011 - 16:32

It's all happening down at the Albert Dock this summer. Not only do we see the opening of the highly anticipated René Magritte: The Pleasure Principle, at Tate Liverpool (link to tate website), but we have a whole host of family friendly, fun and interactive events taking place over the summer months.

We have just celebrated Beatles Day down at the Docks and from 23rd July to 4th September bring the kids down to join in our Children's summer trail - just pick up a trail at the Tourist Information Centre and join in the fun.

Commemorate the millions of enslaved Afr...

Tate gets ready to welcome Magritte

Carly Townsend

21st June 2011 - 13:46

There are just a few days left before Tate Liverpool's summer exhibition René Magritte: The Pleasure Principle opens on Friday 24 June. Everyone here at the gallery is working flat out to ensure that the show is every bit as good as our visitors have come to expect, especially following on from previous major summer shows Picasso: Peace and Freedom and Gustav Klimt. Our art handling team have been working for many weeks organising all of the practical elements of the exhibition, ranging from designing and building the gallery space, to actually hanging the artworks on the wall. T...

  Spring on the Waterfront

Rebecca Horwood

27th April 2011 - 16:01

Wow, just recovering from a great Easter at the Dock and now onto the next big event! Spring on the Waterfront is starting on Friday (29th April) and it is all systems go down here. We have lots of families coming into Nauticalia asking about this event, which is set to be huge. It is a perfect fit for our shop and the gifts we sell so we have made sure we have extra stock for people to buy gifts and memorabilia. I recommend our Royal Wedding memorabilia, great keepsakes.

The event is across 10-days which is very exciting for me and my staff. We love events at the Dock, especially wi...

  Easter is coming!

Guy Lawrenson

11th April 2011 - 13:30

This week we have the 2nd Disney on Ice trail around the Dock and I have already bumped into groups of children running around trying to find the clues to complete the search. It's great to see the Dock busy with families enjoying themselves.

Easter is just round the corner and the Dock tenants have decided to do an Easter Egg Hunt around the Dock on the Saturday and Sunday. What's Cooking? will have a basket full of eggs ready for the hunters! Don't forget to pop back after the activity for a bite to eat. We have a wide range on our menu including a great kids menu along...

  New Spring Taste

Suzanne Watson

15th March 2011 - 16:17

The weather is changing and so are our menus at Blue Bar and PanAm! We are gearing up for spring by introducing a new menu for lunch and evenings.

We are having a fresh start for spring, which has everybody in Blue very excited…including me! We had staff trials of the menus last week and I can honestly say they are definitely worth a taste. I suggest the King pawn Linguine on the bistro menu or the Malaysian Chicken breast on the a la carte menu :)

At the moment we are planning ahead for Mother's Day and Easter. Its set to be a busy time for the Dock and we can'...

14th March 2011 - 14:19

On Sat 5 March we launched the next phase of Albert Dock's groups programme with an attendance at the Great Days Out Fair at the Museum of Museums in Manchester - the largest group travel trade fair in the Northwest region. During the event we welcomed hundreds of group travel organisers to our Albert Dock stand and offered information on advice to school groups, scout and guide groups, WI groups and many many more besides. We also showcased a draft our new Albert Dock Education Pack (which is due for imminent publication - watch this website for details).

During the afternoon, t...

  Half term fun

Sue Gilbertson

15th February 2011 - 12:29

I have noticed a number of Disney characters, part of the Disney on Ice Trail around and about in some of the venues - including our Duck office! It's lovely to see the children (and adults) hunting the Dock for the clues to complete the trail.

It is always a busy time for us during school holidays but I have to say I love it! Kids bring a real buzz to the Dock! The Yellow Duckmarine comes alive with the screams from the children - they are so excited! Parents seem to be having a great time too, which might be a result of the great offers for various restaurants at the Dock. Not ...
